The Ministry of Youth and Sports announced on Monday (November 20, 2023) that it is nearing the completion of ongoing work at the Al-Shaab International Stadium, which included all its facilities and pitch.
A statement from the ministry, received by "Baghdad Today," quoted the stadium director, Alaa Ahmed Zeidan, as saying, "The work included the stadium's pitch, which is largely complete, as well as a complete replacement of the track, carried out by Erth Al-Malaeb Company. Seats have been installed in blue and white colors, providing comfortable seating space, in addition to increasing the number of seats by 1,500 to accommodate a larger number of football-loving fans."
Zeidan added, "The work has been completed regarding the maintenance of lighting, power generators, electrical systems, and cooling systems throughout the stadium. New VIP and VVIP seats have been installed, and the exterior and interior walls of the stadium have been repainted. Additionally, there has been a comprehensive renovation of the bathrooms, player tunnels, referees' rooms, and match supervisors' rooms. The external structure of the screen has been installed, which will measure 144 square meters and meet international specifications."
